East Street

Originally an unused rear carport, this narrow 2700mm-wide footprint has been thoughtfully reworked into a highly functional extension designed to better support everyday family life. Despite its compact proportions, the addition comfortably accommodates a new main bathroom, laundry and playroom for the clients’ two young daughters — transforming previously overlooked space into one of the hardest working areas of the home.

With plans and council documentation already in motion, the clients engaged Eve Road Studio through the Design Time Your Way service to assist with floor plan refinement, selections and bringing a cohesive design direction across the spaces. Drawn to colour, warmth and personality, the brief embraced playful yet elevated interiors, anchored by a palette of greens and pinks throughout.

The bathroom was designed to feel like a calming escape within the home — fully wrapped in a soft, Eucalypt-toned green across both walls and ceiling to create an immersive, spa-like atmosphere. Rich tonal layering and tactile finishes add depth and softness, elevating the compact footprint into a space that feels both grounding and luxurious.

At the heart of the extension, the playroom and living space has been designed for real family living — relaxed, comfortable and intentionally unfussy. Built-in bookcase storage, a much-loved leather sofa, layered lighting and a washable rug from Double create the perfect setting for play, reading and slower afternoons at home.

The adjoining laundry, positioned with direct rear yard access, was carefully planned around functionality and flow, allowing the practicalities of family life to feel seamless and considered.

With Stage One now complete, attention will soon shift to Stage Two of the renovation — transforming the original bathroom into a moody, colour-drenched master suite that promises to be unapologetically pink, layered and full of personality.
